Health Benefits Of DPF Removal

There have been numerous major studies over the past decade or so (when this problem came to light) into the effects of diesel particulates and how they directly effect the health of those who come in contact with them. This contact does not even have to be longstanding or constant because several reports show that a minimal amount of contact with particulates that are released from unfiltered diesel fumes can have grave effects on health. It is down to the fineness of these particles; they are so slight that they can easily infiltrate the bodies immune system and cause considerable damage in the process.

Many people have reported dizziness, nausea, heavy breathing and headaches just being being in contact with these unfiltered fumes for a short period of time and more long term effects are even worse and can extend to the likes of lung cancer and serious respiratory diseases. In 2001, a German report concluded that 14,400 people had died over the previous year because of contact with these unfiltered fumes and, as a result, there is now considerable emphasis put on diesel particulate removal. A properly fitted particulate filter can eliminate the majority of harmful substances that are known to emit from diesel exhaust and this can be as high as 75% (with some reports even putting the number far closer to 100%). A vast improvement you would agree.

In fact, the health benefits extend far beyond just the short term and reducing these harmful chemicals means that we will be living in a better environment overall. Everyone is always looking for a way to reduce the number of harmful emissions that are sent out into the Earth’s atmosphere and, with these filters being properly fitted and functioning to their full capability, then we can all enjoy a much cleaner and healthier planet.
